Bob Koga began his martial arts career at a young age, first with judo at the age of 12 and later with wrestling in high school. When he joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from school and was assigned to Japan, he resumed his judo training and also trained in jiu-jitsu, jo-do, and aikido. After completing his service with the U.S. Air Force, Bob moved to Los Angeles and became an LAPD police officer. He served there with honor and great dedication for 25 years. During his career at the LAPD, he was widely known as a firm supporter of the classic, straight baton rather than the so-called PR-24® baton, the American equivalent of the T-handle baton known in Germany as tonfa (also called mes - multipurpose baton).
