- Suitable for show combat -
A camail (or standard) is a piece of chainmail that was used in the Middle Ages and attached to a helmet as additional protection for the neck and shoulders. The preferred types of helmets here were the nasal helmet, but especially the late medieval bascinet and its variant, the houndskull.
This chainmail standard from Ulfberth features an authentic serrated braided edge and a sewn strip of thick cowhide. The customer must punch the attachment holes for the helmet into these leather strips. For attachment to helmets such as houndskulls or bascinets.
The FRM weave type: is a European chainmail weave of flat rings, which was manufactured and used with various modifications and different ring diameters from antiquity until the late Middle Ages. It consists exclusively of flat chainmail rings. Punched and riveted rings are joined alternately in the 4-in-1 weave style. This weave required and still requires less labor than a completely riveted weave, as only every second ring is riveted. The riveted rings are fastened with round rivets, resulting in a round, hemispherical rivet head. We abbreviate this authentic weave type as FRM, based on the English term (=flat riveted mixed).
