Arwen's sword is named Hadhafang, which translates roughly to throng-cleaver. It once belonged to the Elven princess Idril, who wed a mortal and gave birth to Eärendil. Eärendil was the father of Elrond and the grandfather of Arwen. At the end of the Second Age of Middle-earth, before Arwen was born, Elrond wielded Hadhafang against Sauron in the great battle of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Later, his daughter Arwen used this powerful sword when she helped Frodo escape from the Ringwraiths (Nazgûl). The blade features the following runic inscription in the Elven language of Sindarin: aen estar hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen, which roughly means: this blade is called Hadhafang, a noble blade against an enemy for a noble lady. The inscription contains an intentional play on words, as the Sindarin word for noble lady is Arwen. Thus, the sword itself is described as belonging to Arwen, even though it was originally forged for Idril, Arwen's great-grandmother.
This authentic and detailed collector's piece is an officially licensed replica of the film prop from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. United Cutlery, the industry leader in producing film reproductions, has meticulously recreated the original sword using the highest quality materials.
