Japanese San Mai® blades have been an integral part of the Cold Steel® range for decades. They are highly sought after by martial artists and knife collectors alike, and consequently, demand is high. However, these luxury fixed-blade knives are only produced in strictly limited editions each year.
Hence, the Cold Steel® Nightfall series. The knives in this collection are manufactured with the same quality standards and attention to detail as Cold Steel’s® Japanese classics, with the difference that they are forged from premium American CPM 3V powder steel instead of San Mai® steel.
These strong and reliable blades have been polished to an incredible edge. The handles are made of Kray-Ex™ and each knife comes with a Secure-Ex® sheath.
2020 Model - The 3V Tai Pan® with satin finish replaces the previous DLC-coated CST-13Q model, which is no longer in production.
CPM 3V Steel
This modern tool steel may be a bit more expensive, but it is surprisingly tough and extremely wear-resistant. It is a fine-grained powder steel. With its very uniform microstructure, it offers first-class impact resistance and great edge retention, even with very thin cutting edges. It is a perfect steel for larger blades where extreme durability is required.
