1849 Rifleman's knife with sheath
Admired by Cold Steel®, the beautiful and timeless look and the simple, functional design of the so-called US Rifleman's knife. This rare knife was only manufactured in strictly limited quantities and was the first knife manufactured for the US Army in 1849. The army was officially commissioned and acquired it.
The model presented here is inspired by a historical piece from the private collection of Cold Steel® President Lynn C. Thompson, and while it is not an exact replica, Cold Steel incorporated many of the design subtleties when creating their version, allowing the original to become a historical classic!
Its impressive and robust spear-point blade is rigid enough to resist much larger bladed weapons. This makes it an ideal accessory for a saber or machete. Furthermore, with its majestic blade approximately 30 cm long and its sturdy guard, it can definitely function as a weapon in its own right! It quickly becomes clear why the US Army chose it as a secondary weapon for its riflemen!
Cold Steel's® 1849 Rifleman's Knife is hand-forged from 1085 carbon steel and features a solid brass guard. The beautiful handle scales, which fully cover the sturdy tang, are made of Malaysian Sal wood.
