Griselda medieval bodice jacket in velvet, black

Our elaborate velvet jacket features a form-fitting cut and is lined with a lightweight cotton fabric. All seams are reinforced with cotton tape and the attached hem. It has multiple vents so that it fits the hips in a particularly flattering way.

The bodice-style jacket features numerous laces (at the center front, on the side seams, at the elbows, and on the shoulders), which allow it to be individually adjusted to the body. Thanks to the laces, the sleeves can be removed completely, allowing the jacket to also be worn as a bodice. We recommend only opening the center front lacing to put it on and re-threading it.

Due to its design and cut, this jacket can be attributed to the late Middle Ages. It can be combined very well with both a dress and a flared skirt and a blouse.

Regarding the velvet, it can be added that it emerged in the Mediterranean region in the 14th century and was predominantly woven in Italy. The elaborate design and the fact that this fabric was generally made of silk made velvet tunics exclusive garments. Velvet was very popular in Burgundian Renaissance fashion.

Cotton velvet should not be put in the washing machine as this will cause the velvet to wrinkle irreversibly. You should also not iron the velvet, as this will cause the pile to lose its depth. We recommend removing light stains with a clothes brush in the direction of the pile. In case of significant contamination, we recommend taking the jacket to the dry cleaner.













How to find the correct size:
- To determine your dress size based on your body measurements, measure horizontally at the fullest point.

- For blouses, use your chest circumference as a guide.

- If you are between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size.
- Comfort allowances are included in the cut.
