Medieval Suede Brigandine - 15th Century Leeds Style - Riveted Steel Plates
The hidden plate armor that protected 15th-century European warriors
The brigandine was one of the most widespread types of armor in Late Medieval Europe (14th–15th centuries). Unlike visible plate armor, the brigandine concealed its riveted steel plates under a cover of fabric or leather, distributing the weight evenly and allowing for superior mobility. This piece is inspired by a brigandine preserved in the Royal Armouries in Leeds, one of the most representative examples from the 15th century. Crafted from genuine suede approx. 2 mm thick with 18-gauge internal steel plates riveted in the original historical pattern, containing between 149 and 185 plates depending on the size.
