Rugged Tanto - 55 cm

Descripción

Steeped in tradition

The Epic Armoury Rugged Tanto is a 55 cm LARP dagger inspired by weapons from feudal Japan. Its 37 cm straight blade is single-edged, designed to cut or pierce with perfection. The tanto is designed to be paired with a katana or wakizashi and serves as a backup weapon in tight spaces.

This Rugged Tanto is made from soft EVA foam and is coated with a thick layer of protective latex. Each dagger is hand-painted, decorated to look like steel and textured brass without the danger of wielding a real sharp blade. This particular product features a rectangular cross-guard that protects the 15 cm ergonomic handle wrapped in leather cord. The pommel is sculpted as a flexible ring, ideal for attaching small trophies or ribbons that match your house colors. The leather cord continues onto the blade to create a short ricasso.

Special care has been taken to ensure our LARP weapons are safe. This Rugged Tanto was built around a solid fiberglass rod core and a flexible kevlar tip to prevent punctures. Its latex finish requires some maintenance to maximize its use and well-being.

Dating back to the Heian period

  • Traditionally used by the samurai of feudal Japan
  • Designed to be drawn from the scabbard quickly
  • Paired with a katana or wakizashi by samurai to display social power and personal honor
  • Women would carry a smaller version of this knife, hidden in their obi for self-defense

Quality

  • Resistant latex coating with a round fiberglass core
  • Strong Kevlar core tip protection
  • Made of durable closed-cell foam that does not shred
  • High safety, approved by top organizations

This product is handmade and painted and is therefore unique. As a result, compared to similar item numbers, this product may have natural deviations in pattern, color, and shape, which are not considered defects or flaws.
We produce our image material in a natural environment, where lighting and the surroundings can affect colors and contrast. Therefore, the images displayed may look different from the product you receive from us.

Measurements are all in cm unless otherwise stated.

Maintenance

All latex-coated weapons need a certain degree of maintenance. For this, we recommend using maintenance silicone, which can be purchased separately in the LARP Accessories section. Epic Armoury Maintenance Silicone is an easy-to-apply spray, 100% pure and acid-free, making it safe to apply. We recommend using Maintenance Silicone on a regular basis. It maintains the flexibility of the latex layer and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product resistant to wear and tear.

Store your latex weapons horizontally or on their pommel, NEVER on their tip. Use a simple bed sheet or towel liner to prevent it from touching a plastic or rubber surface to avoid your weapon sticking to other products. Keep your weapons in a cool, dry environment.
