Discover Raptor Katana, Shobu Zukuri
Raptor katana, shobu zukuri
The blade of the Raptor shobu-zukuri katana (iris leaf blade) is characterized by its elegance and impressive cutting ability. This type of blade, which lacks a yokote (ridge line at the tip), became widespread during the Namboku-cho period (1336–1392) and remained popular into the Muromachi period.
The Raptor series by Hanwei:
Under the leadership of sword master James Williams, the Raptor (bird of prey) collection was created—designed specifically for those who do not necessarily have access to a training center but wish to be able to train and perfect their sword-handling technique.
Nbsp ;
Each blade is forged from 5160 carbon steel and undergoes a special heat treatment that ensures very high durability and guarantees that it can withstand heavy blows much better than a traditionally differentially hardened blade. Furthermore, the structure of the steel used eliminates the need for excessive blade thickness, making the blades equal to original Japanese swords in weight and handling. The cutting geometry is designed so that no burrs form when cutting both soft and semi-hard materials. This allows for a wide selection of target materials.
Each katana in the series has its own blade design rooted in the history of Japanese sword forging. This means you can choose from the range based on both aesthetic criteria and handling.
