Epic Armory Hirdsman Throwing Axe as a latex throwing weapon, inspired by the throwing axes of the early Migration Period. The fearsome Frankish tribesmen were known for breaking through the lines of Roman legions by throwing these heavy-headed axes, splitting legionary shields with devastating effect. Epic Armory's version has a heavy, single-edged blade shaped like a utilitarian axe decorated with common chestnut wood grain.
The Hirdsman Throwing Axe is a throwing weapon with a flexible core that gives it weight and makes it capable of being used as a proper throwing axe. It's made from durable, closed-cell foam and finished with a strong latex coating. You can be sure that your LARP weapon will provide the safety and appeal you need when building your kit.
HISTORY
- Historically used by the fearsome Frankish tribes against the Roman legions
- Heavy-headed axes were hurled at the Romans, splitting shields and breaking their lines.
- The first handled axe was created around 6000 BC using birch tar and rawhide lashings to secure the blade to its handle.

All latex-coated weapons require a certain level of maintenance. For this purpose, we recommend using maintenance silicone, which can be purchased separately in the LARP Accessories section. Epic Armory Maintenance Silicone is an easy-to-use spray that is 100% pure and acid-free, making it safe to apply. We recommend using Maintenance Silicone regularly. It maintains the flexibility of the latex layer and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product resistant to wear and tear.
Store your latex guns horizontally or on their pommel, NEVER on their tip. Use a simple sheet or towel lining to prevent them from touching a plastic or rubber surface and prevent your gun from sticking to other products. Keep your guns in a cool, dry environment.
