Leather bracers have been essential elements in warrior protection from the Bronze Age to the Late Middle Ages. Used by Vikings, Celts, and Germanic warriors between the 8th and 12th centuries, these forearm protectors combined mobility and defense in hand-to-hand combat. Vegetable-tanned leather offered resistance against superficial cuts and abrasions, while metal rivets reinforced high-impact areas. Norse sagas and medieval chronicles document warriors equipped with leather armor as a complement to their weapons, especially in regions where metal was scarce or expensive.
Traditional Craftsmanship in Buffalo Leather
This pair of bracers is made of thick top-grain buffalo leather with a soft suede backing, both vegetable-tanned. Rustic brass rivets connect both layers, providing structural durability. The polished surface features a characteristic aged finish that adds historical authenticity. Each bracer is adjusted via three brass buckles, adapting to slim and average-sized forearms.
