Replica of a 17th-century German rapier
Inspired by a rapier made in Solingen during the 17th century, this magnificent reproduction by Hanwei combines historical fidelity, excellent balance, and an attractive antiqued finish that replicates the appearance of an original piece.
Solingen was one of the main European centers for sword manufacturing during the Early Modern period, renowned for the extraordinary quality of its blades. This model reproduces the proportions and handling of the rapiers used by the nobility and fencing masters of the era.
Its swept-hilt, complemented by a knuckle guard, quillons, and protection rings, provides effective hand defense and reflects the evolution of Central European rapiers from the early 17th century.
The blade, forged from tempered, flexible high-carbon steel, offers excellent balance, while the stainless steel hilt receives an exclusive treatment developed by Hanwei that creates a highly realistic antiqued patina, inspired by the appearance of weapons preserved in museums, without reducing its corrosion resistance.
The sword features a grip wrapped with twisted wire to provide a secure and comfortable hold. Furthermore, the blade can be replaced with the Hanwei blunt training blade OH2255, designed for historical fencing practice. The Hanwei left-hand dagger SH2208N, which matches this model, is also available.
