Campovalano Sword with Scabbard - Greek Inspiration
A sword between the Greek world and ancient Italy
In the Campovalano necropolis, in the modern-day Italian region of Abruzzo, archaeologists have discovered hundreds of burials and grave goods that allow us to get closer to the warrior elites of pre-Roman Italy. Among their weapons appear swords that show the connections and influences that existed between the Italic peoples and the Greek military world.
This sword is inspired by a piece associated with Campovalano and recaptures the powerful silhouette of those ancient weapons. It features a dull carbon steel blade, with a marked central rib, and a handle constructed from steel with bone scales, a combination that gives it a sober and markedly historical appearance.
Bone, steel and leather
The sword includes a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard, completed with a brass throat and fittings.
With its 76.5 cm total length, it is a piece of notable presence for collection, display and historical reenactment.

Inspired by an exceptional archaeological find
The Campovalano necropolis constitutes one of the great funerary complexes of ancient Italy. Its tombs have provided weapons, ceramics, personal objects and even chariots that help to reconstruct the world of the warrior communities that inhabited the region.
This sword connects with that legacy and with the influence that weapons of Greek tradition exerted beyond the Greek cities themselves.
