Toto Knightly Sword with Scabbard, 13th/14th Century.
Toto knightly sword with scabbard, 13th/14th century
This beautiful knightly sword is a replica of a medieval sword found in a peat bog in northern Italy. The original, dating back to the 13th/14th century, is now in the collection of the Royal Armouries, the British museum of arms and armor in Leeds.
The sword features a wide, double-edged blade with a fuller extending about two-thirds of its length. The cutting edges are not sharpened. The blade is engraved on both sides with a stamp bearing the repeated inscription "TOTO," a symbol of fidelity and loyalty. The wooden handle is wrapped in brown leather, and the pommel and crossguard, slightly curved towards the blade, are made of steel. The shape of the so-called rain guard or cross-guard leather attached to the crossguard forms a kind of cover over the scabbard opening, thereby offering additional protection when the sword is in hand. Scabbard.
The sword is delivered with a brown wood/leather scabbard.
This medieval sword is designed as a collector's item or decorative object. It is also ideal as an accessory, for example, to complete your costume.
