Gift the Comte de Nieuwerkerke Knightly Sword with Scabbard, 14th Century.
Comte de Nieuwerkerke knightly sword with scabbard, 14th century
This beautiful knightly sword was once part of the collection of the Comte de Nieuwerkerke, a French sculptor and art collector. The original origin of the sword, now in the Wallace Collection in London, is unknown. However, it was likely found in France, and the pronounced signs of corrosion suggest it was a river find. It is classified as Type XV according to the Oakeshott typology and dates from around 1350–1400. This period suggests that the sword was used during the Hundred Years' War between France and England.
This replica features a double-edged blade that tapers sharply toward the tip, with unsharpened cutting edges. The hilt consists of a crossguard curved toward the blade, a wooden grip wrapped in brown leather, and a disk pommel with a round recess in the middle.
The sword comes with a brown wood/leather scabbard.
This medieval sword is designed as a collector's item or decorative object. It is also ideal as an accessory, for example, to complete your costume.
