16th-Century German Kidney Dagger with Sheath – Historical Elegance and Lethality
A dagger that combines power, symbolism, and Renaissance style. The German kidney dagger, also known as a bollock dagger, was one of the most distinctive hand weapons of the Renaissance. Its peculiar double-lobed grip not only effectively protected the hand but also became a symbol of status and virility among 16th-century nobles and knights.
History and design with character
This model faithfully reproduces a German Renaissance dagger, ideal for close-quarters combat, as its tapered, sharp-tipped blade was capable of piercing padding, chainmail, and even armor joints. The one-piece carved wooden grip features the characteristic kidney lobes and is finished with aged brass fittings, adorned with crosses and ram's heads. Each element evokes the luxury and functionality that characterized elite weapons of the era.
The blade is forged from resilient EN45 carbon steel with a diamond cross-section. Although the edges are not sharpened, its sharp form retains all the aesthetic and symbolic potential of the original weapon.
It includes a genuine leather sheath, hand-stitched, with a decorated brass bezel and a hanging cord, ideal for wearing on a belt to complete your medieval or Renaissance outfit.
