Contact Ranger Green fixed blade knife, Extrema Ratio
Extrema Ratio developed the first knife in a new product line called Contact.
It has a spear-point blade profile with a flat grind and diamond-shaped geometry. It features a lower guard to protect the hand from accidental cuts, upper jimping to improve grip, a fuller running the entire length of the blade, and a blade of generous thickness (6.30 mm). All these details make the Contact the big brother of the already famous Requiem, redesigned in its proportions and some technical features. The first of a new line of utility knives.
The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical burnishing coating for the black version. All other colors in production have a blade with a stone-washed finish. The handle is still made of Forprene. It is no longer fixed by side screws, but thanks to the truncated cone stainless steel tang, which is screwed to the base and fits into a special seat that makes it solid. In this way, the knife is well-balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric is cut away; it features a second-level support system that recalls the style of the model that inspired it.
The main casing is injection-molded shockproof nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is inserted into the sheath thanks to its conical shape, which favors quick insertion and extraction of the blade. To draw the blade, all you need to do is press the trigger, which releases the safety device that holds the blade securely in the sheath. A system is installed in the horizontal slots of the sheath that secures the blade to prevent rattling noises when stored inside. The back of the nylon sheath is M.O.L.L.E. compatible.
The textile part is reduced to a minimum and features the classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh strap with a rubber reinforcement to prevent twisting. Extrema Ratio is committed to this new line by minimizing the thickness and size of the knife, but without skimping on structural strength and safety accessories.
