DETAILS
This best-selling armor set includes the Black Ice Breastplate, Backplate, Shoulder Plates, Full Legs, Arm and Leg Protection, Tabard, and belt to fully cover your costume needs at a lower cost. Each piece of armor is made of mild steel with rolled edges and premium leather straps and fittings, designed to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment while keeping the user safe and comfortable. With regular leather and metal armor care, you can expect this armor set to last a long time!
Breastplate and Backplate
Armor made for the most intimidating enemies on the battlefield, featuring front and back plates, faulds, and tassets. With a polished steel finish and black paint and gothic-inspired details, it protects your entire torso while looking impressive. The matching breast and back plates extend below the abdomen, connecting to faulds and tassets: a series of overlapping modeled metal plates that protect weak points on the pelvis and upper legs.
Shoulder Plates
This fully articulated armor is designed to provide protection for the shoulders and head while allowing freedom of movement. The shoulders are composed of articulated pauldrons that cover the shoulder and upper arms and are shaped to deflect blows away from the neck and head. The shoulder plates are attached to the breastplate.
Full Legs
An essential item for anyone wishing to protect their legs during battle. Consisting of cuisses to protect the lower thighs, black-painted poleyns that cover the knees, and half-black greaves that protect the upper shins, you are less likely to take an annoying arrow to the knee, adding to your adventuring days. Three leather straps are used—one around the thigh, one below the knee, and one to attach to the belt—to keep each piece in place.
Arm Protection and Leg Protection
An essential item for anyone wishing to experience the battlefield. Due to the stark style of these bracers and greaves, this package is a particularly suitable armor solution for a dark, serious character with ill intentions. Two premium leather straps are used to keep each piece in place.
Tabard
A sleeveless, open-sided garment worn over any outfit or armor, often with a belt. This particular tabard is a sleek violet-blue color with black trim. Whether you are a one-man army wishing to stand out, or you are in a unit of soldiers and want to blend in, you will look full of style, class, and distinction when wearing the Black Ice Tabard.
Belt
A premium black leather belt with a brass buckle and studs, designed to hold the Black Ice Full Leg protections. This belt can also be worn over the Black Ice Tabard when you are not on the battlefield for a more casual look.

Maintenance
Epic Armoury Metal Works products should be treated with quality acid-free vegetable oil or wax and kept in a dry place. Metal armor that contains leather parts would need separate maintenance for the leather. Read the "Leather straps and fittings" section below for cleaning and leather maintenance with leather care products.
Degreasing and preparing your armor for use
When you open your armor, you might be overwhelmed by the smell of grease and oil. The oil has been applied to protect your armor during storage and transport. Use a degreasing product or mineral spirits and a dry cloth or paper towels to remove all the oil from the plate armor pieces. It is a little more difficult to remove all the oil from chainmail links, but it can be done in the same way. Wipe off as much as you can with a dry cloth, and with the remaining oil, you can remove the grease from the chainmail with mineral spirits or another solvent by spraying it onto the links. You can also choose to fully submerge your chainmail in a degreasing product and use your hands to agitate the metal in the solution; this will completely remove all oil and grease from your links. After removing the oil, be sure to dry the armor thoroughly. Strong, warm sunlight is great for drying your armor, but you can also use a hairdryer or heat gun to speed up the process. Be careful not to overheat any leather parts when using a heat gun.
Cleaning
Humidity is the enemy of armor and chainmail. If your armor gets wet, it is important that you dry it thoroughly as soon as possible. After handling, wearing, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped down with a clean cloth. Lightly grease the clean surface with a quality acid-free vegetable oil. Alternatively, you can apply a layer of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Let the wax dry for a couple of hours and then lightly buff it with a soft cloth.
Preventing and removing rust
Store your armor in a dry place and check it every two months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected spot with a lightly abrasive pad dampened in acid-free vegetable oil or wax. Epic Dark products are specially treated to resist rust, but they should still be treated with oil and stored in a dry place.
Leather straps and fittings
Clean them by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently rub with leather soap and a clean, damp cloth until the leather looks clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clear away any soap residue, then use a dry cloth to wipe the remaining water off the leather.
You should always condition the leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Let the leather soak in the oil before wiping it off with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
