Hundsgugel bascinet inspired by European helmets from the late 14th century
This Hundsgugel bascinet is a reproduction inspired by the helmets worn by European knights and men-at-arms around 1390. Its distinctive visor in the shape of a dog's snout, which gives this model its name (Hundsgugel in German), became one of the most effective defensive solutions of the late 14th century and continued to be used into the first decades of the 15th century.
The design of the projecting visor helped deflect impacts away from the face and created more space in front of the mouth, improving breathing during combat.
Handcrafted manufacture
The helmet is made of 1.6 mm steel and incorporates a hinged and removable visor that allows for ventilation and visibility to be adjusted according to the user's needs.
Inside, it features a comfortable leather liner that improves the fit, while the leather chin strap with a buckle keeps the helmet firmly secured during use.
