The front and back are made up of rectangular fabric panels, with so-called \u003cem\u003egeren\u003c\/em\u003e (wedges) inserted in the middle and on the sides, giving the hem sufficient width. A gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted under the arm. The solid canvas fabric makes the dress robust and heavy, making it suitable for spring and autumn.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The cut of the dress is based on archaeological finds dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. Typical of this period are long dresses with cuts that are mainly composed of rectangles and triangles to use as little fabric as possible.  \u003cbr\u003eIn \u003cem\u003eSkjoldehamn\u003c\/em\u003e , \u003cem\u003ebirka\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003ehaithabu\u003c\/em\u003e fragments were found where the cut is clear.
