They came in many different versions. One of them is this birch wood jug with a hinged lid. Its handles are glued on and the partially preserved birch bark gives it a rustic look.

Any medieval setting can become more authentic with it and it is a real asset for larp or historical reenactment.

It can also inspire modern everyday life, for example as a real eye-catcher on the dining table.

Details:

- Material: birch, untreated

- Dimensions: approx. 17 x 14 cm

- Inner diameter: approx. 5.6cm

- Height: approx. 17 cm (inner depth approx. 12 cm)

- Weight: approx. 420 g

The jug is not calibrated and is therefore intended for private use only.

Please note that the above specifications vary from item to item and the images above are for exemplary purposes only.
Since wood is a natural product, variations in colour and/or grain are quite normal. This means that each wooden jug is unique with its own characteristics and patterns.

Care instructions
In order to enjoy this item for a long time, please note the following: The beer mug is not suitable for filling with hot drinks. Also, liquids should not be left to sit in the wooden mug for several hours. Before using it for the first time, the beer mug should be rubbed inside and out with a damp cloth and allowed to dry. The beer mug should then be rubbed with (tasteless) vegetable oil or paraffin oil (medical white oil, paraffinum (per)liquidum) at around 60 degrees Celsius. Then let the wooden mug dry and let the oil soak in for at least 10 hours. The excess oil can then be rubbed off. Repeat this process two more times, always making sure that no large amounts of oil accumulate on the bottom. In the future, repeat this treatment regularly once after approximately 3 uses.
After each use, rinse the jug with warm water and place it at room temperature with the opening facing down to dry. Wood is a natural material and can crack under extreme conditions. For this reason, the jug should not be left in water for long periods of time and should not be placed in the sun or near heat sources such as radiators.
At Tienda Medieval we have thousands of medieval and other period products.
