The distinctive visor design with a protruding muzzle (for added protection and better ventilation) gave this helmet its name. \u003ci\u003eSchweinegugel\u003c\/i\u003e is another, albeit uncommon, term for this type of helmet.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The visored helmet we offer here is a replica of an original piece from the 14th century (approx. 1395), which can now be admired in the Churburg ( \u003ci\u003eCastel Coira\u003c\/i\u003e ) armory in South Tyrol.\u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003eIt's made of 1.2 mm steel and has a fully removable face shield, held securely in place by pins. The visor is equipped with a viewing slot approximately 15 cm long and 1 cm wide, and the numerous round recesses on the right side ensure the necessary air circulation. \u003ci\u003eVervelles\u003c\/i\u003e (small protruding rivets with holes) placed on the sides and lower edge of the helmet are used to attach a chain rest (the rest are not included).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The blackened interior features a padded, adjustable cotton fabric liner secured to the helmet's bell rim with sturdy stitching.
