They offered protection for the hands and wrists in both close combat and jousting tournaments.

The late medieval combat gloves offered here (also known as hourglass gloves because of their special hourglass shape) are based on original pieces that were probably made by a Milanese gunsmith in the mid- to late 14th century (ca. 1370) and can be admired today in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence.

They are made of 1.6 mm thick steel and, like the original models, are decorated and reinforced with brass on the back of the hand, the wrist, and the lower edge of the cuff. The interior is blackened for improved corrosion protection.

The flexible design of these combat-appropriate full-fingered gloves ensures sufficient freedom of movement, while the integrated black suede gloves (riveted and stitched) and additional durable brown leather fingertip insoles ensure comfort. A brown leather strap on each palm keeps the glove in place during combat.

These freely wearable and movable armored gauntlets are combat-ready. They are best suited to late medieval settings and are especially well-suited to complement the knightly armor of a 14th-century European warrior.

Details:

- Material: approximately 1.6 mm steel (due to the manual manufacturing process, slight variations in steel thickness are possible), brass leaf applications, black suede gloves, brown leather insoles and straps

- One size fits most (large)

- External dimensions (height x width – without suede gloves): approx. 24 x 13 cm

- Leather glove dimensions: approx. 28 x 11 cm (corresponds to glove size 9)

- Inner circumference at wrist: approx. 25 cm

- Inner diameter at wrist: approx. 9 cm

- Weight (pair): approx. 2150 g

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion.
