The handle is made of hardwood. The unsharpened blade is made of carbon steel and has two sturdy guards.  \u003cbr\u003eTo save shipping costs and effort, the sword is delivered with a disassembled crossguard. However, final assembly of the sword is child's play: simply unscrew the pommel from the tang and loosen the handle nut, which secures the wooden handle. Then remove the wooden handle and place the crossguard over the tang.
