To confirm this peace, the Cypriot king sent several gifts to the Mamluk sultan, including several swords. Most of these weapons were recorded in Naskhi script and kept in the armory of the city of Alexandria, where all the weapons of the Mamluk sultans had been kept since 1367. Some received them as gifts, others brought them with them from raids and plunderings. The large collection of European swords housed today in this armory provides weapons historians with ample material for study.
One of the most famous swords from Alexandria is now in the British Museum , The Royal Armouries , in Leeds, northern England. The sword is an example of the Type 19, according to the Oakeshott sword typification. Distinguishing features of the Type 19 are the parallel blade edges, the hexagonal cross-section, and a short ricasso. The sword was probably forged in Milan, northern Italy, in 1432.

This perfect, fully handcrafted replica of the Royal Armory sword features an 87cm long, oil-hardened spring steel blade with a full-length tang, which is riveted to the pommel. The edges are unsharpened, the guard and pommel are forged from steel, and the handle is wrapped with iron wire.
This extremely accurate replica of an original museum piece is very light, perfectly balanced, and therefore quick and easy to use. The sword comes with a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard with steel fittings.

Details:
- Blade material: EN45 spring steel, hardened to approx. 48 HRC
- Total length: approx. 105cm
- Blade length: approx. 87 cm
- Center of gravity: approx. 17 cm in front of the guard
- Weight: approx. 950 g
At Tienda Medieval, we have thousands of medieval and other period products.
