The fabric has been left unpainted to give you the opportunity to personalise the shield with your own colours or motifs if you wish. With a little practical know-how and skill, you will be able to transform the blank shield into an authentic shield from the Viking Age.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The edge of the shield is covered with rawhide, which is considered more impact resistant and durable than tanned leather.
