They were usually worn by knights on horseback to protect their feet from attacks by enemy foot soldiers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e This mobile and portable plate armour for the feet is based on 14th century models. The iron shoes are hand-forged from 1.5 mm steel, blackened on the inside for better protection against corrosion and fitted with leather straps on the bottom. They have no sole and consist of a pointed toe, several slips (from the toe to the ankle), a tongue and a heel piece.
