Only traditional materials are used in the manufacture of the fittings. The blade guard (tsuba), handle ferrule (fuchi), and handle end cap (kashira) are made of nickel silver and are expertly and finely crafted. The blade ferrule (habaki) is also handmade from nickel silver, and the ray skin inlay on the handle (samé) is securely wrapped with black silk cord in the traditional style. The beautiful menuki (small decorative element between the ray skin and the handle wrap) further enhances the sword's appearance.\u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003eAll Emperor Series blades are made from 1060 carbon steel, tempered to spring hardness and sharpened.
