The wooden handle with bone inlay has an oval cross-section and therefore fits firmly in the hand. The handle clamp and end cap are made of brass or steel. The handle cap also has a practical eyelet for attaching a lanyard (a leather strap is included).
The beautiful vegetable-tanned leather sheath is decorated with elegant fittings. It is equipped with three carrying rings and a carrying system consisting of leather straps and strap distributors. This means the knife can be worn on a belt in typical Viking style.
The knife is available with a brown handle and brown leather sheath with brass fittings or with a black handle and black leather sheath with steel fittings.
This Sax (Seax) is designed as a collector's item or decorative object.
*The term Damascus steel , Damascus steel , or simply Damascus refers to a composite steel made from two or more different types of steel. The name derives from the Syrian city of Damascus, which is considered an ancient stronghold and the origin of Damascus steel production. Typically, a hard, high-carbon steel and a soft, low-carbon steel are joined by repeated forging welding and folding. The high-carbon steel provides greater hardness, better hardenability, and longer edge retention, while the softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and increased resistance to breaking. With this technology, which developed in a time of poor and changing steel qualities, the positive properties of different steels can be combined. Due to the different colors with different carbon contents, stunning patterns of alternating layers are created, such as the so-called twist Damascus or rose Damascus . Because of these patterns, Damascus swords from the Middle Ages were said to have an inherent magic.
Details:

- Blade material: Damascus steel (256 layers, 4340 and 1070 steel), sharp edge
- Handle material: wood, animal bone, brass or steel
- Total length: approx. 54 cm
- Blade length: approx. 38 cm
- Weight: approx. 470 g (approx. 950 g with case)
- Leather case with hanger (brown with brass or black with steel)

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.
At Tienda Medieval, we have thousands of medieval and other period products.
